Whoever Has Ears Ought to Hear the Warning of a Loving Father

July 15, 2026

Last Sunday, Jesus ended the Parable of the Sower with the words, "Whoever has ears ought to hear."

This Sunday, after teaching us through more parables, especially the parable of the weeds among the wheat, He repeats the same warning. Whenever a loving father repeats himself, it is because the matter is urgent. Jesus is pleading with us not to ignore the warning that can save our souls.

The Book of Wisdom reminds us that there is no God besides the living God, yet this all-powerful God is patient and merciful, always giving sinners time to repent. St. Paul assures us that when we are weak, the Holy Spirit comes to help us pray and return to God. In the Gospel, however, Jesus reveals another painful reality: while He sows the good seed, the devil secretly sows the bad seed. Many hearts that were once filled with faith have been poisoned by hatred, pride, lust, greed, dishonesty, unforgiveness, and indifference.

The most frightening part is that the enemy does not destroy us overnight. He works quietly until sin begins to look normal and holiness becomes a burden. A little lie becomes a habit. A little bitterness becomes hatred. A little compromise slowly destroys a soul.

My dear friends, before asking, "Who is the bad seed?" let each of us ask, "What kind of seed am I becoming?" The harvest will surely come, and each of us will give an account before God. We cannot blame the devil forever if we continue to water the weeds in our hearts.

Today, Jesus lovingly warns us: listen while there is still time. Pull out the weeds of sin through sincere repentance, frequent Confession, prayer, and the Holy Eucharist. God's patience is not permission to remain in sin; it is an invitation to change.

Whoever has ears ought to hear. Whoever hears should not delay. Tomorrow may be too late.

Amen.

Today's Word of God asks each one of us a question that no one can answer for another: When I stand before God, among which group will I be found?

Today's message is simple but life-changing: Choose to live in the Spirit and not in the flesh. St. Paul reminds us that "those who live according to the flesh cannot please God," but those who are led by the Spirit become children of God.
