Stay Focused and Do Not Fear

The readings today invite us to remain focused on God and never allow fear to silence our faith. We live in a world where truth is often rejected, and those who stand for what is right are sometimes criticized, isolated, or misunderstood.
In the first reading (Jeremiah 20:10-13), the prophet Jeremiah suffered betrayal and persecution because he spoke God's truth. Even his friends turned against him. Yet he did not give up because he knew that God was with him.
St. Paul reminds us in Romans 5:12-15 that sin entered the world through one man, but salvation came through Jesus Christ. Therefore, we must resist sin and choose the path of grace, no matter how difficult it may be.
In the Gospel (Matthew 10:26-33), Jesus says, "Do not be afraid." Three times He repeats this message. Why? Because He knows that fear is one of the greatest enemies of faith. Fear makes us compromise the truth, remain silent when we should speak, and follow the crowd instead of following Christ.
Today, many Christians are tempted to hide their faith, to water down the Gospel, or to remain silent in the face of injustice and immorality. But Jesus warns us: "Whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my Father in heaven" (Matthew 10:33).
My brothers and sisters, the question is not whether we come to church every Sunday. The question is: Do we stand for Christ when it is inconvenient? Do we defend the truth when it is unpopular? Do we remain faithful when it costs us something?
Remember, the same God who strengthened Jeremiah, the same Christ who conquered sin and death, is walking with you today. Your struggles are known to Him. Your tears are counted by Him. Your future is secure in Him.
Therefore:
- Stay focused on Christ.
- Stand for the truth.
- Do not compromise your faith.
- Do not be afraid.
For if God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31).
May the Lord give us the courage to remain faithful, the strength to defend the Gospel, and the grace never to be ashamed of Christ.
Amen.
